The Rival 34 is a well built and seaworthy family cruising yacht. Capable of serious Bluewater cruising, these easily handled boats are just as happy coastal cruising. Redwing has been in her current ownership for the past 15 years and have been well maintained.

Accommodation

The layout offers up to six berths in two cabins and is attractively finished with teak joinery. There is full standing headroom and excellent stowage throughout. In the forecabin, there is a V berth and stowage under. Opening hatch to foredeck. Full width heads compartment with marine toilet and washbasin with hanging and shelf space opposite. In saloon, two settee berths, one converting to double. Fixed table to centre. Opening hatch to deck. Chart table to starboard with quarter berth behind and galley opposite. Two burner gimballed gas cooker with grill and oven (2015). Stainless steel sink with manual water supply. Coolbox. Cream upholstery. Curtains.

Mechanical Systems

Located abaft the companionway, is the Bukh DV24 marine diesel engine (new 2009). Electric start. Seawater cooled. Shaft drive to a feathering featherstream 3 bladed propeller. Single lever control. Approximately 95 litre stainless steel fuel tank. Annually serviced by the owner. Radice shaft seal replaced in February 2022. Approximately 400 hundred engine hours.

    Built by Southern Shipbuilding in 1978 to a design of Peter Brett. White GRP hull with cove line. Black plastic rails. Light grey GRP superstructure with moulded non-slip to deck. Long fin keel with encapsulated iron ballast. Skeg hung rudder. Tiller steering. Aft self-draining cockpit. The hull was epoxied below the waterline in 1997 as a preventative measure. Last surveyed in 2022 (copy available). Hull windows professionally refurbished in 2016 and re-bedded in 2023
