Description

This is the wing keel version of the popular Beneteau First 285, giving her shallow draft ideal for East Coast cruising. She has a Volvo 18hp diesel engine and benefits from a new mast and standing rigging in 2015. The First 285 offers performance family cruising with a large cockpit and two double cabins outside of the saloon.

Accommodation

Six berths in two cabins with approx. 6'1" max. headroom. Forward cabin with two single berths converting to a double with an infill. Hanging lockers, shelving and deck hatch. Folding doors to saloon with two settee berths with stowage under, drop leaf saloon table. L-shaped galley to port with stainless steel sink with pressurised cold fresh water supply. Large built-in cool box. Techimpex two burner stove with oven. Large amount of galley stowage. Aft- facing chart table to starboard with chart stowage, electrical distribution panel and stowage under seat. Door to seperate heads compartment with wash basin and Jabsco marine toilet. Propex diesel fired central heating system (requires servicing). Blue draylon upholstery throughout. Blue curtains.

Mechanical Systems

Located under the companionway in a vented and soundproofed compartment. 1992 Volvo Penta 2002, twin cylinder, 18hp marine diesel engine. Sea water cooled. Shaft drive to a two blade fixed propeller. Rope cutter to shaft. Single lever Morse controls. Rev counter.

Electrical Systems

2 x 12V batteries charging via engine alternator. Shorepower system with ring main and battery charger. Electrical distribution panel. Full cabin lighting.

Spars and Sails

Fractional sloop rig. Silver anodised aluminium, deck-stepped, single spreader, Z-Spars mast and boom. Mast new 2015. Stainless steel standing rigging (new 2015) with adjustable backstay. Slab reefing to mainsail with lazybag and lazyjacks. Goiot headsail furling system. Terylene running rigging led aft to Spinlock clutches. Two Lewmar 30 self-tailing sheet winches. Single Lewmar 8 control line winch on coachroof. Lewmar 8 reefing winch on mast.

    First 285 built by Beneteau in 1991 and commissioned in February 1992. White GRP hull with style stripes and alloy toe rails. White GRP coachroof with moulded-in non-slip decks. Cast iron wing keel giving a shallow draft of 1.2m. Tiller steering to spade hung rudder. Tiller extension. Self-draining cockpit and anchor well. Teak slats to cockpit seats.
