Accommodation

The accommodation offers up to four berths in a traditional layout. Standing heading in the companionway, which then reduces as your move forward.

Up forward in the forepeak, there are two pipecot berths either side of the Baby Blake marine toilet, that is forward and to centre. Access to the chain locker. Moving aft into the saloon, there are two single settee berths with trotter boxes, either side of a fixed double drop leaf table. Again, plenty of storage around the saloon.

In the starboard quarter, there is the chart table with instruments and the control panel. Handy hanging located located next to it. Opposite to port is the L shaped galley with a Plastimo 2 burner gas hob with oven and grill. Single stainless steel sink with a manually pumped cold water supply.

Force 10 paraffin cabin heater. Red upholstery. Opening port holes.

Mechanical Systems

Located abaft companionway is the offset Perkins Perama 25, 25hp three-cylinder marine diesel engine (1991). Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Shaft drive to three-bladed propeller. Single lever controls with electric start. Approximately 100 litre fuel tank. The engine is annually serviced and has been relatively lightly used.

Construction

Rose of Arden was designed by Harrison Butler and built in 1938 by Whisstocks of Woodbridge of Carvel construction with pitch pine planking, copper fastened to steam-bent oak frames. Straight-laid teak deck planking on plywood sub-decks. Varnished teak coach roof coamings and grabrails with sheathed top. Long keel with a cast iron ballast keel. Tiller steering to keel hung rudder.
