The Oyster 485 is a well-proportioned yacht that looks good from any angle and offers a combination of excellent performance, ease of handling, and real comfort. Like all Oysters the 485 features a deck saloon configuration creating a light, airy saloon and unbeatable ventilation. The 485 is well proven as a blue water cruiser, with numerous ocean crossings. It has a low center of gravity, high performance bulb keel, and a fully-protected skeg-hung rudder. 


Six berths in three cabins plus a single in the saloon with good head room throughout.

Forward cabin with raised double berth and storage locker. Lee cloth.

Aft to a secondary cabin to port with a single berth that pulls out to make a double. Plenty of stowage. Bulkhead partition between cabins can be removed to make a single cabin with settee if required.

Forward heads compartment to starboard with marine toilet (Jabsco with holding tank), basin and shower. 

Steps up to the raised deck saloon. Settee to starboard with trotter box and lee cloth. Wrap around U shaped settee to port with large oval extending saloon table. Deck saloon opening windows. 

Navigation table to port in the saloon with all necessary electrical panels, navigation equipment and book/chart storage.

The galley is to starboard in the saloon and the walkway to the aft cabin. Double stainless steel sinks, gimballed 4 burner gas cooker with oven and grill, microwave oven (2016), large front opening stainless steel fridge, huge cool box. 2016 Candy washing machine. 

In the walkway is a heated wet locker for oil skins.

Door to aft cabin with a central king size double berth (can be converted to two single berths with central settee) with outboard stowages. Large wardrobe.  En-suite heads compartment with Jabsco marine toilet (holding tank), basin and shower in separate stall.

Webasto DW40 hydronic central heating system with 4 individually controlled zones, also supplying domestic hot water (as well as immersion heater and engine). Fully carpeted. Curtains and blinds. Patterned velour upholstery. Many opening hatches, opening ports and deck saloon windows, plus dorade ventilators. TV with masthead antenna.


Mechanical Systems

Located under cockpit sole in heavily soundproofed compartment. Yanmar 4JH2-DTE marine diesel engine. 88hp. Four cylinders. Flexible coupling to shaft drive with 3 blade MaxProp feathering propeller. Rope cutter to shaft. Exhaust alarm. Copper fuel lines. 550 litres fuel capacity in grp tank. The engine has logged 4,304 hours in total.

Built by Windboats for Oyster in 1996. Null number 19. White grp hull with style stripes. Hull epoxied in 2006 as a preventative measure. Sugar scoop type transom. White grp coachroof with teak laid decks and coachroof (in good condition). Self draining centre cockpit with teak laid seats and sole. Lead keel. Wheel steering (Whitlock) to skeg hung rudder (cable steering). Alloy toe rails. Stainless steel safety and hand rails (30in with new wires in 2012). Split pushpits with seats (cushions and backrests). Heavy duty double bow roller. Dorade vents with stainless steel rails. Hull antifouled and new anodes in September 2018. Large lazarette and two deck lockers. Gas locker with large bottles.
